Real Estate team advises Arden Cross Limited on master development agreement with Muse Places
2
Our Real Estate team has advised Arden Cross Limited – the consortium behind the £3.2 billion, mixed-use commercial and residential destination – on its master development agreement with national developer, Muse Places.
The scheme – located near Birmingham Airport – will supercharge growth in the West Midlands, with the HS2 Interchange station at its heart. The masterplan will help transform the area into a world-class modern neighbourhood, and a great place to live and work, creating up to 3,000 new homes and 6 million sq. ft. of employment space for 27,000 new jobs for the region.
The new community will be a mix of green spaces, new homes (open market, affordable and Build-to-Rent), commercial uses (including leisure, retail and offices,) and an innovation district (anchored by a HealthTech Campus) – all with state-of-the-art connectivity at a local, national and international level.
The appointment of a master development partner builds on the public-private partnerships already established at Arden Cross with partners including Birmingham City Council, Solihull Borough Council, HS2, the Department for Transport, Packington Estate and Coleshill Estate.
The Gowling WLG team was led by Partner Nisha Jassal, with support from Principal Associate Jenny Farrington, Paralegal Sam Gardner, and Consultant Peter Thorne (Real Estate); Partner Chris Letters (Corporate); and Partner Richard Green (Construction).
Nisha Jassal commented: We're delighted to have advised Arden Cross Limited throughout its negotiations to appoint a development partner on this once-in-a-generation major development project in the heart of the West Midlands. The engagement of a master developer marks a significant milestone in the progress of the Arden Cross scheme, and we're very excited to continue to support Arden Cross Limited as the scheme comes to fruition over the coming years."
Carl Potter, Project Director of Arden Cross, added: "The input from Nisha and the team at Gowling WLG has been instrumental in securing a positive conclusion to these negotiations. We thank the team for all their dedication, hard work and guidance throughout. Arden Cross is a complex project which will be a crucial aspect of creating new homes and jobs in the West Midlands to drive forward economic growth in the region."
