Gowling WLG recognised in seven practice areas in the 2024 edition of The Legal 500 EMEA guide

04 April 2024

Gowling WLG has been recognised in seven practice areas in the 2024 edition of The Legal 500 EMEA guide.

Teams and individuals from our France and United Arab Emirates (UAE) offices are again recognised in the legal directory, highlighting the leading practice groups and lawyers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Gowling WLG's teams in Paris are recognised in three practice areas this year, retaining a ranking for Intellectual Property: Trademarks and Designs (Tier 2), and securing new listings for Dispute Resolution: Commercial Litigation (Tier 4) and Dispute Resolution: International Arbitration (Firms to Watch).

Partner Céline Bey is also named a 'Leading Individual' for Intellectual Property: Trademarks and Designs, with the directory praising her as "essential in IP: excellent professional, didactic and pragmatic" and for her ability to "build a dynamic and very responsive team around her". In her team,  Alexis Augustin and Sophie Boinnot, senior associates are also cited.

The firm’s Dubai based teams secured a total of four practice area rankings this year, retaining listings for Intellectual Property (Tier 2) and TMT (Tier 3) work. First year rankings for Commercial, Corporate & M&A (Tier 5) and Projects & Infrastructure (Tier 4) were featured in the rankings which is a great achievement for the teams.

Partner and head of the firm's Middle East IP practice, Jon Parker, is recognised as a 'Leading Individual' for Intellectual Property. Simon Elliott and Beth Bloor (Corporate) have also played a role in this ranking as they have picked up on corporate projects like Abrdn Investcorp Infrastructure Partners (AIIP) and Capton Energy. The work that has produced this ranking is very much a team game between the UK and GCC teams.

The Legal 500 rankings are based on comprehensive feedback from 300,000 clients throughout the world, as well as input from law firms, private practice lawyers and a team of legal researchers. The EMEA guide provides researched coverage of over 80 countries and over 2,700 ranked law firms.
