Mathilde Grammont

Mathilde is an intellectual property senior associate, who focuses her practice in multiple areas, including patents, trademarks, designs, trade secrets, copyright, both in litigation and non-litigation matters. She has experience representing clients related to infringement, validity, unfair competition, copyright-related contractual claims and ownership claims in complex multijurisdictional or domestic matters.

Mathilde also assists clients in the commercialisation of their IP rights, including NDA, R&D agreements, licensing, and other IP-related agreements and intervenes in corporate matters involving IP assets.

Mathilde has worked for major worldwide companies in a multitude of industries, including e-commerce, film and audio-visual, book publishing, food and beverage, luxury, hospitality, fashion/cosmetics, telecoms, automotive, IT hardware, financial services and packaging. She also has experience working with clients in the life sciences sector, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Prior to joining Gowling WLG, Mathilde worked at two major international law firms, on both sides of the English Channel and trained at a major steel manufacturer.

Having lived and worked in France and the UK, she has a strong internationally-oriented practice. She also completed a law degree in the UK and in the US.


  • Assisted a luxury hospitality company to defend its trademark rights before French Courts and obtained an pan-EU interim injunction.
  • Assisted a pharmaceutical company to defend an unfair competition claim in a multijurisdictional litigation.
  • Assisted an automotive undertaking in a patent litigation in France.
  • Assisted and advised a book publishing company enforcing its copyright against French infringers before French Court.
  • Assisted and advised a company of the beauty industry to enforce its IP rights before French Courts and IP Offices.
  • Assisted a sport's company defending a patent's ownership claim in a cross-border litigation including infringement claims.
  • Co-drafted the Protocol for the evolution of procedural practice before the IP chamber of the Paris judicial Court.
