In July 2015, Gowling WLG advised client Amey on a 23-year, £235 million partnership with Trafford Council for the provision of services including street cleaning, waste collection, highways maintenance street lighting and property services across Trafford.

The partnership, which began in July 2015, is intended to deliver substantial efficiency savings through combining services under a single provider and by a series of up-front investments, enabling savings without compromises to the quality of service delivery.

Director Dominic Richardson led a team of projects and infrastructure experts including Alexandra Poynter and Tim Smith, as well as a cross-sector team including Gus Wood, Paul Green, Lee McBride and Charlotte Brady.

The team provided advice to Amey's bid team throughout the dialogue phase of the project right up to contract close. The contract, which was a bespoke partnering agreement, was negotiated in an extremely tight timetable in order to meet the deadlines arising from the expiry of the council's existing contract arrangements and the need for Amey to take over the services in July 2015.
