Legal boost for start-ups: Set up - Trademarks, design, software, copyright & founding
What are the most important legal principles you should be aware of when doing or setting up business in Germany? All will be explained - short and simple - from foundation to protection of intellectual property, important (company) contracts, financing and data protection and beyond in our webinar series "Legal Boost for Start-Ups".
The first webinar of our series SET UP - brand, design, copyright & foundation focused on the protection of your trademark, design and copyrights as well as all you need to know for a successful foundation
In this webinar our Munich partner Manuela Finger and Munich associate Lars Schönwald pointed out that trademark, design and copyright law can provide a decisive advantage on the way to your success. But there is no such thing as the best IP right. A good tip is to check whether two intellectual property rights should be registered in parallel. And with registration in Germany, you secure the right of the first registration in any case and can, for example, register an EU-wide trademark six months later. And the good news is that you do not have to wait for the trademark registration before entering the market, although you must first check whether or not another company's property right or the product with the same or similar company name already exists on the market. Otherwise you could be slowed down from the beginning.
Our cooperation partner Daniel Donhauser from LawUp gave the tip to adapt the statutes and start-up capital to the needs and goals of the company and to contractually record the legal status of the founders from the beginning. Thats how possible liability cases, conflicts and possible failure can be avoided.
