Join Gowling WLG in supporting COVID-19 relief efforts

As COVID-19 continues to take a significant toll on populations in China and other countries around the world, Gowling WLG is urging its peers in the global business community to join it in supporting the Red Cross's relief efforts.

Gowling WLG has itself donated $10,000 to these efforts through a dedicated portal launched recently by the Canada China Business Council (CCBC), which to date has raised nearly $200,000.

"As we continue to carefully monitor the spread of COVID-19 around the world, our thoughts are with everyone whose lives and businesses have been so severely disrupted by this event," said Peter Lukasiewicz, chief executive officer of Gowling WLG Canada.

"Our firm is home to growing offices in Beijing and Guangzhou, and many of our colleagues, clients and close friends are among those affected by the outbreak - which also continues to have a residual impact on the Chinese Canadian business community," said Thomas J. Timmins, chief representative for Gowling WLG Canada in Beijing and leader of the firm's Canadian Energy Group.

"With these concerns top of mind, we are eager to support the CCBC's campaign and demonstrate our solidarity with the Chinese community, at home and abroad. We strongly encourage others to do the same."
