Christiane McGovern

Christiane McGovern is a partner in the Business Law Department of Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. She has a broad corporate commercial practice, with a significant emphasis on technology, telecommunications and corporate governance matters.

Christiane regularly prepares, negotiates and advises clients on commercial agreements, including agreements relating to cloud computing, data security, intellectual property rights, fibre optic and collocation services, software services, data centers, goods and services and other general commercial arrangements.

Christiane also works closely with several not-for-profit corporations and Crown corporations on a variety of governance, commercial and strategic board matters.

Christiane's background includes valuable in-house experience acquired through secondments with the legal department of a large telecommunications company and as a summer student in the legal department at Hydro Ottawa.

Christiane is an active member of the firm and her community. She is involved with the firm's mentoring and national professional development initiatives. She is currently a board member and the Secretary for the Canadensis Botanical Garden Society. She also supports Ronald McDonald House as a member of the organizing committee for their annual Skifest event. Christiane also served as a member of the City of Ottawa's Environmental Stewardship Advisory Committee from 2015 to 2018.
