Mike advises on complex, high value disputes arising out of major construction and infrastructure projects, carrying out project counsel work and conducting international arbitrations.

Mike's project counsel work involves managing live risks from within the client's team, drafting key correspondence and assisting with the resolution of disputes. He has carried out this role on projects in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Yemen, Turkey, Iraq, India and Ethiopia.

Mike's international arbitration work involves dealing with all stages of the proceedings, including acting as advocate at final hearings. He has acted in international arbitrations arising out of projects in Oman, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, India and Sri Lanka.

  • Advising a Joint Venture of contractors in relation to disputes arising from the construction of a water treatment plant in Iraq, constructed under the FIDIC Conditions of Contract and subject to Iraqi law.
  • Advising a contractor in relation to disputes arising from the construction of a metro project in Dubai, constructed under the FIDIC Conditions of Contract (subject to UAE law).
  • Advising a contractor in relation to disputes arising from the construction of an Independent Power and Water Project in Saudi Arabia, constructed under a bespoke EPC form and subject to English law.
  • Advising a Joint Venture of contractors in relation to disputes arising from the construction of a Hydroelectric Project in Turkey, constructed under the FIDIC Conditions of Contract (subject to English law).

International Arbitration Experience

  • ICC arbitration on behalf of a contractor in relation to the construction of a road project in Oman under bespoke Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration Geneva and subject to Omani law.
  • ICC arbitration on behalf of a contractor in relation to the construction of a process plant in Qatar under bespoke Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration London and subject to English law.
  • ICC arbitration on behalf of a contractor in relation to the construction of a road project in Sri Lanka under FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration Colombo and subject to Sri Lankan law.
  • ICC arbitration on behalf of a contractor in relation to the construction of a pipeline project in Yemen under bespoke Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration Vienna and subject to Austrian law.
  • ICC arbitration on behalf of a Saudi Arabian contractor in relation to the construction of a power project in Saudi Arabia under bespoke EPC Conditions of Contract. Seat of arbitration Jeddah and subject to Saudi Arabian law.
  • ICC arbitration on behalf of an infrastructure company in relation to the supply of defective electrical products by an Indian manufacturing company. Seat of arbitration Delhi and subject to English law.
