William Bjornsson is an associate in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office. William's practice focuses on product regulatory law in relation to foods, drugs, natural health products, cosmetics, consumer products, and products that use the radio frequency spectrum (Internet of Things/Smart devices, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
William works with companies to commercialize products, and assists clients with product certification, classification, licensing, labelling, packaging, distribution, manufacturing and advertising. William's practice also includes regulatory compliance, and commercial issues that relate to multi-level marketing, direct selling and consumer protection.
William assists clients interacting with Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada (formerly Industry Canada), Environment and Climate Change Canada, as well as provincial and territorial regulators.
William joined Gowling WLG from a previous career in marine microbiological research and analysis. He held scientific research and analyst positions in Australia, Hawaii, and for the National Research Council of Canada — where he focused on optimizing production and extraction of oils from marine and freshwater micro-algae for conversion to biofuels and nutraceutical products.
