Nordic Region
The Nordic Region (consisting of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden) is a profitable and exciting place to do business - and Gowling WLG has been active in the area for many years.
Year after year, international studies confirm that the Nordic countries offer companies excellent conditions in which to invest and conduct business, which is due to a combination of a strong tradition of research and innovation, along with a well-developed traditional and digital infrastructure.
The role of Gowling WLG's Nordic team is two-fold. Outbound, our role is to assist our clients from outside of the Nordic Region in selecting the most suitable legal advisers in the area to help them with their Nordic business. Our comprehensive knowledge of the region's law firms and legal market will ensure you get the advice you need.
Inbound, our role is to apply our extensive experience to assist clients headquartered in the Nordic Region with establishing their business operations internationally - whether through an acquisition or by establishing a greenfield operation - and looking after their ongoing legal needs.
Members of our Nordic team regularly visit the firm's clients and contacts in the major business centres of the Nordic countries, including Aarhus and Copenhagen in Denmark, Helsinki and Tampere in Finland, Reykjavik in Iceland, Oslo in Norway and Gothenburg, Malmo and Stockholm in Sweden.
When we make these visits, we take a hands-on approach, and often tour our clients' facilities and meet with management to improve our understanding of the challenges they face. We see these visits as essential to both learning what our clients' priorities are and to tailoring our legal advice to help them meet those objectives.
Although English is commonly spoken throughout the Nordic Region, our team includes fluent speakers of both Danish and Swedish.
