Robbie Turchyn

Robbie Turchyn is an associate in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office. His practice focuses on trademark and copyright litigation, prosecution, and licensing. His practice also includes sports and entertainment and general commercial law matters.
Robbie has advised Canadian and international clients on IP strategy and enforcement, including trademark and trade name disputes, rights acquisitions and sales, infringement, and commercialization across diverse industries. His background working with athletes, artists, entertainers, and in technology and defence provides him with a distinctive perspective in guiding clients.
Academically, he earned a Bachelor’s (Hons.) in Kinesiology, publishing original research in biomechanics, before completing a Master’s in Sport Management and a Juris Doctor of Laws. During this time, he served as a Teaching Assistant in Biomechanics and Sport Law, Research Assistant for a study on concussion in a youth sport, President of the Queen’s Law Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and Editor for the Queen’s Law Journal. He has continued his academic pursuits by guest lecturing at Western University’s law school on international trademark protection.
Outside of work, Robbie enjoys travel, food and spending time outdoors. Nowadays he prefers his hockey on a pond, golf without a scorecard, catching music live and every sunset he can.
