On November 13, 2015, Infrastructure Ontario and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital announced that EllisDon Infrastructure STEGH Inc. has signed a fixed price contract to build and finance the hospital’s Emergency, Ambulatory and Mental Health Redevelopment Project.

The project, valued at $63.3 million, involves a three-storey, 106,000 square-foot addition to the current hospital building which will include the following new facilities: emergency department, surgical suite, medical devices reprocessing unit, acute mental health unit with 15 inpatient beds and ambulatory services, and an ambulance garage. All contractual steps have now been completed and EllisDon will mobilize on the site immediately. The project is proceeding under Infrastructure Ontario's alternative financing and procurement model.
