Find out what life in our team means for them

RICHARD MORGAN, MOBILE DEVICE SPECIALIST, BUSINESS INFORMATION SYSTEMS

What's your background?

I am a mobile device assistant in the Business Information Systems (BIS) team. I support the legal team's mobile devices in the UK and international offices. This consists of over 1,000 devices ranging from iPhones, iPads, Windows phones and Blackberry phones.

Why did you choose to work here?

I joined Gowling WLG earlier this year. Having friends that worked at the firm made it easy for me to find out how good it is to work here. The firm has been ranked as a Great Place to Work® for many years and the incentives and benefits here are great.

What was the recruitment process like?

I was recommended through the firm's employee referral scheme. The application process was fairly straight forward, with me providing my CV and a covering letter. The interview process was formal but also as relaxed as it could be. I was asked some technical questions then my second interview was more of an informal discussion about the role and what I should expect if I was successful.

What makes Gowling WLG different to other firms?

There are optional training courses to attend to develop your skills. If there isn't a course you want to attend you can request a specialist course during your personal development review that will develop your skills.

There is also a range of activities to be involved in provided by the social club.

What's the most surprising thing you've learned about working here?

The thing I've found most surprising is the social atmosphere within BIS – both in and out of work.

What do you do outside work?

Follow the football season and travel the world.
